Congratulations to Professor Jay van Bavel, who collaborated in three papers that have recently been published. For the paper, Decoding “us” and “them”: Neural representations of generalized group concepts, published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, Professor Van Bavel worked with Harvard’s Intergroup Neuroscience Lab’s Mina Cikara, Zach Ingbretsen, and Tatiana Lau. Brain-to-Brain Synchrony Tracks Real-World Dynamic Group Interactions in the Classroom was published in Current Biology on April 27, 2017 and focuses on the correlation of brain-to-brain synchrony between students, class engagement and social dynamics. The third paper, Social identity shapes social valuation: Evidence from prosocial behavior and vicarious reward, was published in Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience and conveys how social identities can influence neural representations of subjective value, and what can be understood by examining the identity contexts in which they unfold.
