Social Contagion

ABSTRACT

Decisions are often made around other people, even if the choices themselves don’t involve and are not about others. We know surprisingly little about the role of emotions in this particular kind of scenario, despite the widespread use of terms like “panic” or “fear” when describing market crashes, for example. In this project, we will examine how peoples’ choices are swayed by the choices of others around them, and connect those biases to emotional responses.
